1. What is Thermage?

Thermage™ is a non-invasive procedure that helps smooth, tighten and contour skin for an overall naturally younger looking appearance. There is no surgery involved, you will experience little to no downtime and can generally return to normal activities immediately following the procedure.

2. How long has Thermage™been available?

The Thermage™ device was first cleared by the FDA in 2002 and has been available in physician offices since then.

3. How does it work?

A handpiece with a smooth, flat tip delivers Thermage's unique radiofrequency (RF) technology, which safely heats the deeper layers of your skin. This stimulates existing collagen and promotes new collagen growth over time resulting in smoother, tighter skin.

4. How long does each treatment take?

Depending on the size of the area to be treated, the procedure may take as little as 20 minutes or up to two hours.

5. Where are the Thermage™ procedures performed?

Thermage™ procedures are performed on places of the face and body with loose or lax skin. Thermage™ procedures are performed on the eyes, face, neck, hands, arms, abdomen, buttocks, and body areas with cellulite.

6. What kind of results can I expect?

Our skin can look smoother and more youthful as the tighter underlying collagen offers better support. Results vary depending on age and skin condition.

7. How soon will I see results?

Some immediate results are usually visible and improve over time. Measurable tightening and contouring improvements appear gradually over a two to six month time period following a single treatment session.

8. How long will the results last?

Thermage™ procedures help stimulate new natural collagen production for up to six months following the treatment. Results can be long lasting depending upon your skin condition and your natural aging process. Results usually last 1-2 years.

9. How many treatments will I need?

Unlike many laser procedures requiring four or more sessions, a single Thermage™treatment produces results in the majority of patients. The doctor will determine the course of treatment that is right for you, based on your needs and goals.

10. What will I look like immediately after the procedure? Can I go right back to work?

There's no special care needed after treatment and most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment.

11. Does it hurt?

When the energy is applied, you'll feel a deep, but brief, heating sensation, which is an indication that collagen is reaching effective temperatures for tightening. To protect the surface of you skin, a cooling spray is delivered before, during and after each application of energy. You will be asked for feedback on the level of heat sensation experienced during the procedure to help balance your comfort with maximum results.

12. Does the doctor or nurse perform the procedure?

Our physicians and medical staff have been extensively trained on the Thermage™ procedures by the manufacturer.

13. Can I get a Face by Thermage™procedure instead of a facelift?

Face by Thermage™can definitely tighten your skin, but it won't provide the dramatic results of a surgical facelift. If you would like modest tightening of your skin without surgery, then Face by Thermage™may be right for you.

14. Can I avoid other cosmetic procedures if I do this?

Each procedure has its own benefits. Thermage™ is a great non-invasive choice for skin smoothing, tightening and contouring.

15. Can I get a Thermage™ procedure if I've already had other procedures?

Thermage™ procedures are compatible with most other cosmetic procedures, like soft-tissue fillers.

16. Is it safe?

Thermage™ procedures have an excellent safety record. Of course, as with any procedure there's always some risk. Side effects are generally mild and may include redness, swelling, blisters, bumps and rare instances of surface irregularities.

17. How much does it cost?

The cost depends on the area you're having treated and can be determined during consultation.
